Rules of the road water.
1. Notwithstanding the recreational nature of sport fishing, when under
charter, the Blue Sky is, by definition, a ship at sea. At all times at
the dock and at sea, the Skipper has absolute control and direction of the
boat and all activities on it and his orders must be followed. Failure to
do so is dangerous for the boat, its crew and passengers and may result in
cancellation of your charter, without refund, and/or civil action and
criminal charges.
2. You are responsible for replacing any gear that you break or lose.
3. Guests may drink, but no drunkenness is allowed.
4. Practice fishing courtesy and common sense. This will help ensure a
fun charter for everyone. Obnoxious or dangerous behavior may give reason
for the Skipper to ask you to stop fishing. (You may continue on for the
boat ride.)
5. You may keep all fish that you catch personally.
6. Cleaning fish will be done at the dock on the boat, and not at sea.
7. When dolphin and whale watching, that is what we are doing - watching.
Not harassing, poking at, or trying to catch or ride. Just watching.
Respect, please.
8. We like to think we are on top of our game, but some things even we
can't control. There are no guarantees that we will catch fish.
9. If you are late, you missed the trip. No refund. Period.
10. We will have a trash bag for all the trash we generate. Do not throw
trash into the ocean.
11. Charters that are unable to go out because of bad weather or high seas
will be postponed and rescheduled.
12. There are no refunds for any reason. Once you have paid, your funds
are committed.
Not exactly rules but guidelines that only a bonehead would not follow:
1. If you are prone to seasickness we recommend you take a commercial
motion sickness remedy at least 45 minutes prior to casting off, or as the
medicine's instructions may indicate. (Bromamine, Meclezine, etc.) If you
become sick, please throw up over the side of the boat into the ocean. We
will not be returning to shore for those who become seasick and we will
not throw you overboard no matter how much you might beg us to.
2. Look at your globe. We are in the tropics. 10 degrees north of the
equator. The sun shines here. It really shines here. And, being on the
open ocean is like being at the focal point of one of those satellite
antennae - the water is like a mirror, so the effect of the sun is
multiplied many times. If you are fair skinned and susceptible to sunburn
- or even if you are not - wear a sun block - a high SPF factor sun block.
Lying in bed, immobile and smeared with lotion because you've been burned
to a crisp is no way to spend a vacation. Use a high SPF block. They work.
3. You may notice that the Philippines is not exactly a wealthy country.
If you should catch fish and don't intend to eat it, rather than tossing
it, consider just giving it away. A decent sized dolphin fish represents a
week's meals to a Filipino family. Fish are a precious local resource.
Don't waste them - put them to good use. The gratitude and smile you
receive in return are worth it, believe us.
